There are many ways that a wiki could be used by you, especially with the capability to create “private” wikis that may only be viewed by you or by only those you authorize. Check out this list of 20 ways that you could use a wiki today!

  1. Make a travel scrapbook while you’re traveling, including your schedule, a journal of your adventures, and photos
  2. Create a travel log by state or country to log your adventures
  3. Keep a running gift wishlist that can shared with family members. Or, perhaps you prefer the annual necktie that you receive from your kids or the sweater from Aunt Hazel to add to your collections!
  4. End carpool scheduling e-mails and use a wiki instead
  5. Got a hobby? Use a wiki to tell about it, whether is it your baseball card collection, thimble collection, rose garden, etc.
  6. Share your research notes – others may be looking for helpful information that you have found, such as getting rid of fire ants or web worms
  7. Log and track your meal plans
  8. Log your favorite recipes – you’ll have access to them on your ski vacation when cooking at the condo
  9. Create a home inventory for insurance purposes
  10. List all the software that you have installed on your home computers
  11. Record all hardware that you have stored away, including that extra hardware in the attic or basement
  12. Post notes online about the books you are reading or those for your local book club

  17. Create a family home site and use it to plan your next family reunion
  18. Create a site for capturing the knowledge of your volunteers on the golf tournament planning committee
  19. Share your photos – all the baseball parks you’ve visited, your photos from birdwatching, your collection of funny signs that you’ve seen posted, etc.
  20. Create a site for your child’s sports (soccer, basketball, baseball, etc) team, to post schedules, who’s responsible for team snacks after the game, team photos, team member photos, game statistics, coach profiles, player statistics, etc
